DeSoto County, Mississippi, is packed with things to see, do and discover. We’ve rounded up five bucket list items for you to check off in 2023.
Catch a concert at Landers Center’s 10,000-seat arena in Southaven. Upcoming live music performances include country artist Cody Johnson, R&B tour Soul II Soul with Ledisi and Kem, Winter Jam with We The Kingdom and Jeremy Camp, and bluegrass musician Billy Strings.
Grab a bite at one of the many delicious restaurants we have throughout the area. Award-winning barbecue dishes await you at Memphis Barbecue Company in Horn Lake and Hernando’s Velvet Cream has mouth-watering sweet treats. Newcomer Fresh Valley Juice & Salad Bar at Silo Square in Southaven has your healthy options covered, too.
Get some fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors at DeSoto County’s only public access to the Mighty Mississippi, Hernando DeSoto River Park in Walls. Here, you can bike, walk, fish, picnic, grill and more. During the summer, bring the kiddos to pick their own blueberries at Nesbit Blueberry Plantation and Cedar Hill Farm in Hernando. The latter offers pumpkin patches and hayrides in the fall.
Say yes to Nesbit for rest and relaxation. Newly renovated Bonne Terre sits on 23 wooded acres and is the perfect place to leave stress behind. Blue Haze Farms is your answer to a cozy lakeside getaway that features outdoor glamping, goat yoga and horse trail rides.
Festivals abound in DeSoto County throughout the year. In the spring, head to Mississippi Ale House’s Brew Fest in Olive Branch and choose from over 150 beer samples from 60 breweries. Dive into all-you-can-eat crawfish in April at Mudbug Fest in Hernando and enjoy barbecue, games and more at Southaven’s Springfest. In September, indulge in live music, thrill rides and turkey legs at the Mid-South Fair.
It’s never too early to plan ahead! Add these events, restaurants and activities to your 2023 bucket list and get ready to have some fun. We hope to see you soon at the top of the Magnolia State.
