4 family friendly fall activities in DeSoto County
15 Sep / 2022
We're looking forward to fall here in DeSoto County, Mississippi, not just because of the cooler temperatures the season will bring, but because of all the family fun that comes with it. Here’s a preview of what you and your crew can enjoy at the top of the Magnolia State this fall.
Cedar Hill Farm’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn MaIze
Embrace all things fall at Cedar Hill Farm in Hernando. Try your luck at the corn maze before boarding a tractor-drawn hayride out to the Pumpkin Patch where the kids can pick their own right out of the field. Stick around for a meal at the Country Kitchen and post-dinner pony rides, too. The Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maize are open Sept. 28-Oct. 30.
Hernando’s Halloween Off the Square
If you have kiddos 12 years and younger, attending Hernando’s Halloween Off the Square is a great way to have some free fun on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 3-5 p.m. Dress the kids in costumes and bring those treat bags because there will be dozens of vendors passing out goodies! Please note this is held outdoors in the DeSoto County administration building parking lot.
Play a round of disc golf
Have some sporty spices in the family? Head to one of the three disc golf courses we have here in DeSoto County for some friendly competition. Horn Lake’s Latimer Lakes Park has a course, and so does Southaven’s Central Park and Coldwater’s Arkabutla Park.
Kid-friendly shows at Landers Center
The largest venue in North Mississippi, Landers Center, has two kid-friendly events on the schedule that your crew is sure to love. Nov. 12-13, the Southaven event space welcomes Paw Patrol Live: The Great Pirate Adventure for four shows. Just a few days later on Nov. 16, A Magical Cirque Christmas comes to town. Guests can experience the enchantment of Christmas while watching dazzling performers and cirque artists perform to holiday tunes.
